The National Literacy Agency, part of the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, was founded to promote and support the National Literacy Strategy for All in Malta and Gozo. The Agency is committed to fostering lifelong and inclusive literacy practices that enhance educational outcomes and improve career prospects.

Its work includes designing and delivering a variety of literacy programmes such as the Footballer’s Read and Write Programme, Reading Ambassadors, and Reading for Pleasure. The Agency also supports children facing literacy challenges through initiatives like the Klabb Naħla After School Literacy Programme, the Nwar Family Literacy Programme, and Reading Recovery.

The Aqra Mieghi/Read with me sessions are focused for children aged between 0-3 years. For older children between 4-7 years, they offer Seħer l-Istejjer / The Magic of Stories. For children aged 7-11 years, refer to Gost il-Qari / The Pleasure of Reading.

Reading sessions are organised in various locations, days and times, usually announced as separate Facebook events.
