The Learn to Swim program by AquaHub Malta focuses on teaching proper swimming techniques, stroke mechanics, and critical water safety from a young age up through adulthood.

Children (Ages 5 and Under vs. Over 5)

  • Early Childhood: Lessons focus on initial water exposure, building confidence, and teaching early safety habits to prevent a fear of water from developing. Key milestones include safe entry/exit, floating positions, breath control, streamlining, and learning to kick and swim completely unaided.

  • Children Over 5: The focus shifts toward building on that safety foundation to advance physical skills. Children progress through learning 3 to 4 core strokes, advanced breath control, underwater fly kicks, diving from blocks, building stamina for longer distances, and learning race turns.

Progression Beyond “Learn to Swim”

Once a swimmer master the core fundamentals of the Learn to Swim program, AquaHub paths them into age-specific squads:

  • Development Squads (Ages 10–13/14): Tweak and refine the mechanics of all 4 competitive strokes.

  • Performance Squads (Ages 13+ to 20): High-intensity training aimed at fitness, speed, and competitive racing.
