Centrestage Malta is a performing arts school rooted in musical theatre. It began in Summer 2010 during a workshop led by Tiziana Calleja, which concluded with a successful showcase titled GLEE!. The positive response inspired the group to continue developing their skills and passion for the stage.

Since then, Centrestage has grown steadily. Regular workshops focus on stamina, breathing, voice, ear training and fast-paced rehearsals, helping members strengthen their performance abilities. Despite busy schedules—ranging from full-time studies to demanding careers—the group’s dedication and the opportunities that arise keep Centrestage thriving.

Over the years, Centrestage has been invited to perform at numerous events, including My Son Pinocchio, Carols in Concert, cabaret shows, and various national concerts and activities. In 2012, the group also performed weekly musical numbers on a live TV programme, and several members achieved high marks in the Trinity College Musical Theatre examinations. A strong sense of friendship and teamwork remains one of the group’s greatest strengths.

As Centrestage evolved into the Centrestage Troupe, it produced several successful events such as A Musical Dine (2014), A Musical Dine 2 (2015), and In Stitches, all showcasing a diverse range of musical theatre repertoire. In 2015, members were honoured to perform for Her Excellency the President of Malta, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, during the Flame of Peace Ceremony at San Anton Gardens.

The troupe continued with annual productions such as Cocktails and Cabaret (2016), Lollipop (2017), and Rum and Rock ’n’ Roll (2019), the latter two featuring music from the 1940s and World War II era.

Today, Centrestage Malta offers a variety of courses for adults, teens and children, along with one-to-one vocal coaching and musical theatre training. Students also have opportunities to perform abroad, including at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London.

Centrestage has recently become an award-winning company, placing 1st in the Musical Category at Sanremo GEFFand earning the Best Choreography Award at the Junior Theatre Festival. After an exciting and successful 2019, Centrestage looks forward to what the future holds.
