The museum is temporarily closed.

Ahoy, young explorers! Get ready to sail through time at the Malta Maritime Museum – where stories of ships, sailors, and sea battles come to life! Located in the historic town of Birgu, this awesome museum is inside a big old building that once helped build real pirate-like galleys for the famous Knights of St John!

Later, the British turned it into a giant bakery – not for people, but for the Royal Navy’s ships! Imagine a place baking bread for thousands of sailors every day! This building has seen cannons, captains, and even served as a police station for the dockyard.

Since opening in 1992, the museum has been full of cool ship models, treasure maps, ancient anchors, and sea tools that tell Malta’s story from the days of oars and sails to big battleships. You can discover how people lived at sea, what they ate, and even how they fought pirates!

And now, the museum is about to set sail on a new adventure! It’s closing for a while to become bigger, better, and even more fun. When it reopens, it will be a world-class sea museum, ready to welcome curious kids and future captains from all around the world. Stay tuned – the best is yet to come!

Closest Food & Beverage facilities can be found at the Birgu Waterfront.
