The Royal Malta Yacht Club (RMYC) Sailing School, located in Ta’ Xbiex, is one of the island’s premier institutions for maritime education.
The RMYC uses a “stepping stone” approach, where children move to more advanced boats as their confidence and physical size increase.
| Programme / Level | Age Group | Boat Used | Description |
| Learn to Sail (Level 1) | 6–14 Years | RS Quest | The entry-level class. An instructor stays on the boat with a small group of kids to teach the basics (steering, wind direction, and safety). |
| Learn to Sail (Level 2) | 7–12 Years | RS Bug | A transition to single-handed sailing. Kids learn to handle the boat alone in a controlled, safe environment. |
| Intermediate / Advanced | 10+ Years | RS Feva | A world-leading double-handed dinghy. Focuses on advanced boat handling, maneuvers, and speed. |
| Performance Racing | Youth/Teens | ILCA (Laser) | For students looking to compete. Training covers racing strategy, tactics, and the “Racing Rules of Sailing.” |
Summer & Winter Programmes: While the Summer School (July–September) is the most popular, the RMYC also runs a Winter Series and weekend training sessions for year-round development.
